Christmas is only days away (obviously), and…did I forget something? OHMYGOSHI FORGOTTOBUYGIFTTAGSOMGOMG. If that’s you, this simple, creative project only takes about half an hour to make as many gift tags as you want using common household Christmas gift wrapping items, without having to go out and brave the cold again (brrr!). Using clothing price tags from your haul on the recent Black Friday (if you live in the USA) or simply from a pair of pants or a t-shirt you have laying around, you can make these amazing tags with a personal touch!
Cute Recycled Gift Tags
Items needed:
- Clothing tag(s) stickers/all protruding items deducted, trimmed if needed
- Black acrylic paint (or any other fast-drying, water-repellent paint when dry)
- Wide gold ribbon (around half an inch wide)
- Thin white ribbon (around half a centimetre wide)
- Alphabet beads with holes big enough for the white ribbon to go through
- Assorted gold/silver gel pens
- One origami star
- Scissors
- Double sided tape/double sided foam tape
Instructions:
- Put your tag base on a washable surface and paint over with black paint to satisfaction. When dry, flip over and do the same to the other side. Put aside after both sides are dry.
- With your gold ribbon, and cut out a length long enough to wrap the front of your painted tag base and slightly go behind the back.
- Take your white ribbon, and cut out a length long enough to go through the tag base’s hole and attach to your gift.
- With your alphabet beads, spell out a message either related to Christmas or the gift receiver’s name. eg. Merry Xmas, Joy, Love, Mistletoe, For You, Alyssa etc.
- Using your scissors, cut out pieces of double sided tape that fit on the ends of the gold ribbon. Stick them on the ribbon, and wrap ribbon around the painted tag base. I personally prefer to have the ribbon lower, around the bottom of the tag as to leave space for writing.
- Thread white ribbon through hole so each ribbon is equally spaced. Tie a double knot and insert alphabet bead message.
- Tie onto gift with double knot. If you are not tying it on directly, simply tie a double knot. Trim excess.
- Using gel pens, write on desired message. eg. To: Alyssa From: Brianna etc.
- Cut out a small square of double sided tape and stick onto origami star. Stick star in the middle of the gold ribbon.
- MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
- Items needed. Sorry, I forgot to add in the double sided tape and scissors. You still need them though!
