Hello! <----This is HamBoss! Welcome to Poke's The Daily Hamster; a new world and style of blogging! Featuring... :dramatic drumroll: HAMSTERS! Of course, there are lots of other things to do around here, but, what you're really going to be excited about is that there's a new way to enjoy the little furballs! No, no, no, no, no, I don't mean I'm going to teach you how to cook a five star recipe, that would be horrid! The real deal is everyday there'll be a new chapter of the new hamster adventure "e-novel" I'm writing up on the site for everybody to enjoy! Who doesn't love stories? <3 I do! :) So keep your eyes peeled and keep checking back everyday! (You get the 'blog' part now, don't you?) I hope one day I can collaborate each chapter into a real novel. Enough with the goofiness. :P In addition to the extravaganza, there also will be a hammie photo gallery featuring my own lil' darlings, Scrambled Eggs and Omelette, the two female Red-Eyed Argente Russian Campbell Dwarf Hamster sisters! As drawing is one of my hobbies too, I will also be displaying my drawings and etcetera, not to mention my hamster art and the like! Feel free to contribute and submit YOUR art by sending it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it (don't worry, you will be credited). I also hope to set up an online shop with some fun handmade and custom hammie items sometime. Anyway, there's lots more so feel free to use your explorer instincts ;) ! So sit back and enjoy the show!

Best Wishes,

Love from HamBoss

A warm, gentle breeze ruffled my fur. I stretched open my eyes and shafts of sunlight leaked through the holes I had chewed in the den roof. I rolled over and licked the snow white fur on my underbelly. “Ow!” A sharp squeak came from the Roborovski neighbours. I rolled my eyes. Just another typical day in PetSmart. Then I noticed something different-a strange sense of destiny. I shook my head and stretched. Licking my paws, I slowly trodded out of my den. My eyes caught movement. Ping! A hand was tapping on the glass. Not again! Ping! Ping! Ping! Then I thought of something. Maybe this was my lucky day, though.

Confused, Pumpkin prodded Tissue with his nose, and called his name, but the other Roborovskii continued ignoring him. Then when Tissue finally spoke, his voice was as cold as gusts of winter wind. “I have nothing to do with you. Get out of my den immediately.” Pumpkin flinched and widened his eyes in shock with the sudden change of demeanor. “Bbbuuut…” he stuttered. “I will repeat it one more time. Get. Out. Of. My. Den!” hissed Tissue.

Pumpkin backed away and fled to his own den and shivered. Even though the playful squeaks and fights of Radish and Sunflower were only pawsteps away, Pumpkin felt as if he was locked in his own world, alone and frightened, with nobody to show or help him out of this cold, lonely prison.

As he settled down to wash himself and scratch the itchy spots on his ears, he tried to make sense of Tissue’s sudden outburst. All he did was suggest some playmates. If he had any brothers or sisters, he would gladly and happily play with them. Besides, Tissue had never seemed reluctant to share food or nests with the other hamsters either. Then Pumpkin shook his head and pushed the thought to the back of his mind. He had enough on his plate without having to worry about Tissue, too.

His mother had once told him that he had to find out what his destiny was, and what he planned to do as an adult hamster. He had pushed away the revolting thought of taking Sunflower as a mate easily, but he wasn’t quite sure what he would do in the later stages of his life. After all, he was only five weeks old and only just weaned, so it wasn’t like he had tons of time to think, anyway. Then he groaned. The winter drafts were here again; its cold tendrils wrapped around him, and suddenly the den felt empty. He decided to go out for a run on his mother’s wheel. But even when he put his first paw outside of the den, he felt something was wrong, something was terribly wrong. As he lifted his head, expecting to see the sparkly pink cage top, all he could see was a huge, bare, five fingered monster lowering towards him, getting closer, closer and closer.
